So great is people’s passion for making friends online, that they are becoming increasingly addicted to virtual world. Teenagers, particularly, spend hours of their leisure time chatting with their net friends. Reports said that millions of young people have made friends online. As far as I could see, making friends online is not a wise act. First of all, as you can see, it is quite unsafe to make friends online, for the simple reason that most people surf the internet with fake personal information. Teenagers like us are too young to distinguish what is true and what we can believe. Besides, there are many groups which cheat people for money or other things on the internet. And you will suffer a tremendous loss if you abandon yourself to making friends online without being cautious. Moreover, people have found that the students who chat online frequently tend to be less confident than average students. Instead of taking a stroll with family members or friends, cyber addict choose to meet net friends online for a chat. How pathetic it is! Last, craze for chatting on the internet does do harm to people’s health. A large number of teenagers are addicted to computer. Food is left uneaten, homework undone and sleep is lost. I can’t resist concluding this article with some kernels of advice: set a standard for friends online; arrange a reasonable time; spend more time with family and friends; read a wide range of books and you won’t regard internet as the only thing that can entertain yourself any longer.
