Nowadays, the increasing number of people are highly educated and get command of the standard language. Some people claim that dialects cannot be acceptable in public; nevertheless, I firmly believed that dialects need to be acceptable in public places. First of all, there are still plenty of old people who can’t speak standard language well, thus, if dialects can’t be acceptable in public, it will bring a quantity of troubles to the older. Secondly, dialects are the traditional culture, we ought to preserve them rather abolish them, if dialects cannot be acceptable in public; it is obvious that the dialects will die out with time going by. Thirdly, when we talk with our friend in dialect, we’ll feel more comfortable and speak more fluently, especially when we work in other city, it is very delightful to use the dialect. Moreover, sometimes we may easily distinguish some friends in public when we hear the familiar dialects. However what I think the most crucial is that speaking dialects in public is a good way not to let others know what we are discussing about. Can you imagine that other can hear the secrets or some confidential things between us and our friends? In a word, Dialects do no harm to our normal life, it can not only propel our better conversation but also bring a lot benefit to our normal life. And we can also make our nation has a diversified culture.
