In my opinion, you should go on working with him because you are a team after all, although it was wrong for him to break his promise. Here is some advice for you. Firstly, you had better find out the reason why he couldn't finish the work. If he is really in trouble, you should help each other as a team. Secondly, you can tell him you are willing to work with him because many heads are better than one. Last but not least, it is a good idea to ask your teacher for help.
