Nowadays, there is a debateble issue among people that is whether older schoolchildren should learn more subjects and develop knowledge. Some people think yes, while others think they should only learn several number of subjects in details. Both of them have their own reasons. Study a wide range of subjects can let schoolchildren have more opportunities to contact with the world, broaden their horizens and help them to sparkling innovation ideas. Since older schoolchildren are in the age of a relatively mature period, they are full of curiority of knowing the unkonwn world. They eager to learn more about everything which can be obtained from different subjects, such as biology, arts, history, chemistry, physics et al. But for some students, there is also some drawbacks existed. Considering the imbalance of children's development, hating emotion would be generated when the students are learning some subjects which they are not interested in. For example, a boy who likes physics and enjoys doing some models by himself may be not has fun of reading history books,which made him feel bored. On the other hand, studying a narrow range of subjects also has its upsides and downsides. Focusing on small number of subjects always means a high effiency and sound results because they devote more time and effort on relatively fewer subjects. In the same time, however, students may be have prone to be lack of a whole knowledge structure since they choose the only subjects they keen to learn. What's more, learn fewer subjects may lead to a shortage of some common sense in life or society to some extent. For instance, students who have spectatular interest in sciences and always doing experiments in labrories are often neglect their physical conditions and do not care about other news or common sense in social life. So, in my own opinion, learning wide range of subjects are more essencial for older schoolchildren which can make them develop much better and more balance. The increasing development of our society needs more and more well-armed talents with full range of knowledge, thus the shoolchildren should better learn more subjects than a narrow range.
