Raising pets seems to be more and more common nowadays in China owing to the fact that people¡¯s life is improved enormously. As pets become an important part of people¡¯s daily life, it intrigues an issue that whether the pets should be regarded as family members. As far as I am concerned, pets are supposed to be treated like family members, and, a number of reasons can be listed. People raise pets for numerous reasons, and among all the possible ones, finding a company seems to make sense greatly. If pets are used to accompany the lonely people, they definitely ought to be seen as family members. In our age, many people are busy at work or meeting the fierce competitions, having no time to share thoughts with their parents, thus, the older the parents become, and the lonelier they will feel deep inside. In this occasion, older people raise some pets to help relieve their solitary. They regard the pet dogs or cats as their newly born children and whisper to these amiable animals. Raising pets can also bring happiness to the family, in this regard; pets should be taken as members of family. It often can be seen that the whole family are playing with pets, buying specialized food and other stuffs for amusement and the laughter are brimming in the air, what a great atmosphere is in the house. Take another example, many children come back from school in a rush and directly head home, because they are worried about whether their animals are in hunger and eager to play with their little pets as soon as possible, in this sense, pets are regarded as children¡¯s intimate peers and maybe their beloved younger brothers. We can safely draw the conclusion from this description that treating pets as family members are helpful for children¡¯s growth, especially for their psychological development. From what has been discussed above, it is absolutely beneficial if the pets are treated as family members. And what counts most is, owning pets like your little children or little brothers or sisters, you will be given a lesson on how to care about others and some sort of liability.
