With the rapid development of global economy and technology, our habitats is under great pressure. Human activities not only bring harms to the plants but also seriously affect the animals. As the recent survey shows, the species of the plants and animals are decreasing while our environment is deteriorating. Increasing numbers of people have noticed this phenomenon, and hold different opinions towards this issue. Some people are of the opinion that human beings have devastated our habitats, and it is too late to refresh our world. While others hold out that there is still something we can do to save the disappearing species and keep in harmony with them. As to me, both sides have their own merits and evidence, and before we come to a conclusion, we should analyze them first. Exactly, most negative effects mankind bring to the plants and animals are irreversible. Deforestation in the Amazon rain forests and hunting in the Pacific ocean have greatly reduced the species of local trees and marine animals. Moreover, due to the insatiability of human beings, a great deal of animals are extinct. In order to pursue the profit and money, some merchants and hunters will do everything they could, and of course, that will threaten the lives of the precious and rare plants and animals. Despite all those downsides effects, we should not ignore the arduous efforts people make these days, which may effectively preserve the species and improve the situation. And this can be illustrated by the example of the popping up environmental campaigns. Countless numbers of citizens have been involved in these kinds of campaigns. They protest the selling of animal furs and ivory teeth. They not only behave themselves, but also try their best to propagate the idea. They persuade others to be resistant to the commodities which are made at the cost of animal's life. In addition, governments have put forward the legislations and some strong measures to protect the wild livings. Numerous natural reserves have been set up to protect the disappearing animals. Bans on hunting and fishing in specific areas and times have been implemented. The governments of different countries have tried to cooperate and build the universal law to protect our earth. Besides, some non-governmental organizations also take the responsibility to solve the problem. Based on the above discussion, we should not deny the fact that people are becoming more conscious of the environmental problem nowadays. With the joint efforts, I believe, our living world will be more diversified and the eco-system will be more balanced in the future.
