Should private car owners be taxed for pollution? Since China's reforming and opening up,living standard has improved in China, Chinese are able to afford a private car as basic transportation tool. It is great convenient for people to go out and come back, so I don't support tax on private car owners for pollution, the reason is the following. Firstly,rural and urban transportation system is not well organized, for example there is no bus or subway in some places, or people have to take much time to wait for bus because of bus' little departure frequency . This is very low efficiency for people. Secondly, pollution tax on car owners will increase a burden on people,Now cars are mostly bought by the young as wedding present, they who of some just graduated from school have to bring up little children and look after the old and have heavy economic burdens. If the government tax on them, possibility of bad result may appear including no money to cure illness for the old or to go a good school for the children. Thirdly, economy develop slowly in China in recent years, the tourism industry as the service industry play an important role in GDP. Self-driving travelling will strengthen regional economy and then push forward China's economic development. It is common sense that driving car is inevitable to produce pollution towards the environment,but we can reduce the effectiveness of private car by other ways such as developing electrical car.So I suggest that tax on private car owners is not reasonable.
